Urban Superway – South Road Project

Australia

Project Overview

The South Road Superway project is South Australia’s largest road project aiming to improve access for local businesses and the surrounding areas as well as ensuring traffic safety and efficiency. Urban Superway, comprising John Holland, Macmahon Contractors and Leed Engineering and Construction, was awarded the design and construction contract.

GHD, together with SMEC and IBT engineering, were subcontracted to Urban Superway as the lead designers.

The project delivered a total redesign of the existing road network featuring a 2.8km elevated, multiple lane transit corridor which bypasses several major intersections and improves traffic flow.
