The T1 Domestic Pier and International Departures Expansion forms part of Stage 1 of Perth Airport’s Master Plan. Perth Airport’s “vision for the future” involves the consolidation of all commercial air services to new facilities around the site of the existing International Terminal T1.
This particular stage of the project involved the relocation of Virgin Australia’s domestic operations and an expansion of the existing international departures area, including the following major components:
T1 Domestic Pier – included 14 domestic check-in counters with new check-in self-service and bag drop technology, a domestic security screening zone, a spacious new Virgin Australia premium guest lounge, 12 new aerobridges gates, new baggage reclaim belts, and specialty dining and retail
International Departures Expansion – included two Airbus A380-capable gates, a spacious new Emirates lounge, expansion of the existing retail, a new international departures lounge, and baggage upgrades
The project was delivered in 16 separable portions to assist the client in progressively feeding new components back into the existing operations to support the use of the current terminal.
TBH’s role was initially project programming and scheduling support during the development of a new acceleration programme, however, the role continually expanded with TBH eventually taking over management of the master programme and providing ongoing support to management in regards to critical path updates, progress reports, advice on extension of time notices and claim support.
TBH developed and assisted with the following:
- Master programme development including procurement, construction and commissioning
- Short term programme development
- Weekly status updates and progress reports
- Dashboard reporting
- Preparation and updates on extension of time notices
- Delay analysis and claims for submission to the client
